Many companies are weighing a timely question: should they stick with a platform built a couple of decades ago, or systematically move toward the cloud? However, this debate is already late to the game since the cloud should be the baseline. Waiting only increases technical debt and erodes competitiveness.
The cloud transition is essential for any organization that wants to remain competitive and innovative. AI is evolving rapidly, and its benefits always manifest first in the cloud. Migrating to the cloud improves bottom-line efficiency while driving revenue growth through entirely new capabilities.
Redefining ERP implementation
The cloud transition, and the public cloud in particular, fundamentally changes how organizations deploy ERP systems. It maximizes the ROI of the transition project and gets the system production-ready quickly. At best, the cloud transition process can be completed even in four weeks, with costs measured in hundreds of thousands of euros instead of millions.
The public cloud represents a completely new mindset compared to the private cloud. Because heavy customizations are avoided in the public cloud, massive upgrade and maintenance projects become a thing of the past. Standardized solutions are agile and efficient, cutting out unnecessary complexity. The public cloud also creates a stable foundation for bringing AI capabilities directly into a company's core processes.
A shift in mindset is required
Success depends on a genuine shift in mindset. Developing the company's core processes with an open and unconventional approach is at the very heart of it. This demands strong business ownership and high ambition right from the start of the initiative.
Even a lightweight transition is worthwhile. For example, a basic technical migration, where the current ERP is moved to the cloud as-is, immediately improves information security and resource utilization.
The change can feel difficult for many organizations, as it directly involves a critical core business system. People are used to viewing ERP projects as slow and expensive, but cloud-based systems have changed the game permanently. From a business perspective, running a company on platforms from the early 2000s and leaving new opportunities untapped is highly questionable.
