Creating a modern and fresh digital presence for Arnolds

Arnolds is a well-known Finnish café chain. Arnolds’ values revolve around deliciousness and freshness – which should also extend to their digital presence. Arnolds chose Vincit to help improve their app because our expertise and company values made us stand out from the competition.

The challenge – create a digital presence that matches Arnolds’ values

Arnolds conducts annual industry research and consistently ranks at the top, meaning that the company is the most well-known café brand in Finland. But they were lagging behind in the use of digital tools to reach customers and increase sales. 

What Arnolds needed was a fully integrated digital service that allows ordering and provides relevant information – while serving as a base for introducing new features in the future.

The solution – rebuilding the app from the ground up

Different service providers were evaluated to develop Arnolds’ digitalization and customer app and Vincit came out on top. We worked as a trusted partner to discuss ideas with them and plan strategies.
 
The collaboration began with an audit of the existing digital environment. It quickly became clear that much of the app’s foundation needed to be rebuilt from scratch – both the user interface and the backend systems. 

The goal was to create a fully integrated customer experience that serves Arnolds’ existing customer base while also attracting new customers through enhanced sales capabilities. This project is also tied to the upcoming renewal of Arnolds’ point-of-sale system, which has become outdated and needs an overhaul, both in terms of software and hardware.

Increasing convenience for customers

 

The app strengthens loyalty and encourages repeat business. In the future, ability to make preorders is also very useful, especially for corporate customers. Any given location may not have enough items ready-made for large orders. But with the new app, customers can be sure of getting what they want in a timely fashion. 

 

Enabling a digital gift card

 

The app now allows for a digital gift card feature to be added. Arnolds’ traditional paper gift card had a limitation: customers had to use the entire amount at once. With a digital card, customers can add money to it over time, which should help generate new revenue.

 

Supporting sustainability

 

New digital tools in the app will soon help Arnolds coffee shops manage waste more efficiently. Real-time tracking of product expiry will enable targeted flash sales, reducing waste and supporting the chain’s commitment to sustainability.
 
The app is also a new marketing channel and is expected to increase coffee sales, which supports Arnolds’ sustainability targets. A part of Arnolds’ sustainability program is their partnership with Slow Coffee whose coffee is not grown on massive, open plantations but instead is cultivated in natural jungle environments. For every cup of coffee Arnolds sells, a portion of the proceeds goes back to the growers – which means that customers who choose Arnolds coffee are also contributing to the well-being of a developing community.
