Ensuring smarter electricity deals with a digital energy platform

Vincit created a first-of-its-kind service called Valovirta, which provides electricity users with a personalized, data-driven recommendation, making the process of choosing an electricity contract smarter and easier. Vincit built Valovirta for EnCoHub, whose vision is to enable energy deal-making solutions for wholesale and retail markets. 

The service got immediate interest from consumers, who are using Valovirta in increasing numbers. EnCoHub and Vincit are building on this momentum by working on a B2B version of the service as well.

The challenge – a changing electricity market

The electricity market in Finland has been undergoing significant changes in recent years. It’s become increasingly difficult for end users to understand which type of contract best suits their consumption patterns and when is the right time to commit to longer-term agreements. As a result, choosing an electricity contract requires substantial background research and continuous monitoring of the market.

EnCoHub saw an opportunity for creating a service that provides electricity users with a personalized, data-driven recommendation, making the process of choosing an electricity contract more accurate and easier than before.

Key business drivers:

  • Increase revenue: bringing new customers to the site is a win-win for all involved. Consumers get the right deal, electricity providers get a new customer, and EnCoHub gains a new source of revenue.

The solution – a data-driven solution to make choosing a service provider easier

EnCoHub partnered with Vincit to validate the basic concept behind the Valovirta service. The idea was that people could give basic information to the service and receive the best electricity offer for their unique situation. 

Following concept validation, Vincit designers shaped the idea into a user-testable prototype. A multidisciplinary team, our data architects and development professionals then partnered closely with EnCoHub to bring the service to life, expertly handling the data model, user interface, and visual design. 

The service launch was smooth and got immediate interest from consumers, who can for the first time get recommendations for smart electricity contracts based on their actual consumption data. We're now working together on the next phase of the project, which is a B2B focused version of the service. This will bring the same benefits of personalized recommendations based on electricity usage data for businesses.
