Software Development

Career story, Anton Rosnell – detailed feedback has helped me to grow as a developer

My background is in programming – I was doing my programming degree in vocational college when I first saw the Rising Star program. I applied in 2022 and worked at Vincit as part of earning my degree. When I graduated, I stayed on at the company.

The Vincit Rising Star trainee program is for those people who want to work as software developers. The goal of the program is to support junior developers or people changing careers into software development.

Each Rising Star gets a personalized growth path combining real client projects with mentorship. The goal is to help early-career developers like me build practical skills, gain experience, and become strong software professionals.

A constantly developing career path

When I started at Vincit, I worked on developing UIs in React as a front-end developer. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from my colleagues here. For example, early in my journey i came across the usual React footguns related to updating the UI's state – but that’s not a problem for me now thanks to what I’ve learned.

Since then, my role has moved towards becoming a full-fledged full-stack developer. I like working at Vincit – I was warmly welcomed by my colleagues when I started here. Their feedback has also been invaluable in my development. They’ve given me incredibly detailed code reviews from which I’ve learned a lot.

Good work-life balance

Vincit is known for its fun culture and work-life balance – the emphasis here is on well-being and trust, which is especially valuable when you're building your early career.

I can recommend that other young developers take the same path as me. The Rising Star program is a unique opportunity to learn and grow your skills while working with great people on interesting projects for a wide range of customers.
