Blog: 2018 Second Anniversary Update with Video

01/03/2019

Happy New Year and Happy 2nd Anniversary to us!

2018 was an exciting year at Vincit California, filled with lots of growth and a lot of enthusiasm around new clients and multiple awards. Be sure to watch our end of year video as our CEO, Ville Houttu, shares the following updates during his most recent triathlon, racing at 25 mph.

To kick off our second year of operations, we moved into a new office space with 11th-floor views spanning over Irvine Spectrum and the surrounding hills. We grew our team to over 30 talented Vincitizens, who helped us work on 33 different client projects including work for brands such as Logitech, Yamaha, KCRW and Irvine Company.

We were recognized with multiple awards

We won five awards at the American Advertising Federation ADDY awards for our work with Yamaha Watercraft and Friar Tux. We also won the Best Innovation Award at the Miami International Boat Show for the app we developed for Yamaha Watercraft.

We were also named the following:

  • a Top Workplace by the OC Register
  • Best Places to Work by the OC Business Journal
  • a Great Place to Work by the Great Place to Work Institute
  • Runner-up for Best Tech Work Culture at the OC Timmy Awards

On top of these great recognitions, our CEO, Ville Houttu, was named the Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce, and also nominated for the Orange County Business Journal Innovator of the Year Award.

This year we increased our community outreach

Vincit Dev Talks ran quarterly and included speakers from Blizzard, Acorns, Crowdstrike and more. We also hosted happy hours for university and bootcamp students, alongside networking events for UCI graduates to come tour our office and have a Q&A with Vincit employees.

Ville, our Passionate CEO, spoke at many forums including: DisruptHR Orange County 4.0, DisruptHR San Diego, TedX TurtleRock, CEO Leadership Effect Workshop, and acted as a judge at the UCLA Global Access Program. He was also interviewed on “Hire Power Radio” podcast by Rick Girard and “The C-Life” podcast.

Additionally, we launched the non-profit Coded in OC which has three goals: growing the local economy, growing and retaining technical talent in Orange County, and defining Orange County as a tech community.

Lastly, we made one acquisition

Devise Interactive is an award-winning agency that specializes in brand strategy, UI/UX strategy and software development. The company has designed prominent digital solutions for many notable clients, including Tapatio Hot Sauce, Creamistry, and Dacik Fit Foods. We welcome Devise’s team, including their CEO to our growing family.

With this we welcome the year 2019. We will continue to work hard towards our goal of making our clients and employees happier tomorrow than they are today.
